THE SAT

The SAT exam is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper nationwide standardized test to assess a student’s readiness for college. The student’s SAT score, along with their high school GPA, classes taken, recommendation letters, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays all factor into the decision as to whether or not a student will be accepted into one of the colleges of their choice.

Even for SAT-optional colleges, completing the exam with a good score can significantly improve a student’s chances of being accepted. In general, the higher the student’s SAT score, the more available options they will have for attending and paying for college.
