THE SHSAT
The SHSAT exam is a standardized test given every fall to 7th and 8th graders seeking admission to New York City's Specialized Public High Schools. These nine schools have a separate admission process from the general high school admission application and are highly selective. On average, approximately 30,000 students take this test each year, but only about 1 out of 5 scores high enough to get offered a seat. Admission to these elite schools is based only on a student’s SHSAT score; school grades are not considered. This is why being properly and thoroughly prepared for this test is crucial.
